How the Ranking Works

The WISE Index (Water Intelligence Scoring Engine) ranks organizations such as AI data centers, tech firms, and water-intensive industries across four core dimensions of water sustainability. Each dimension is scored from 0 to 100, and a weighted sum produces a composite WISE Score:

• Intensity (35%) — how efficiently water is used relative to computing or energy output.
• Source / Dependency (25%) — the mix of water sources and reliance on freshwater.
• Recycling Rate (20%) — how much withdrawn water is reused or recycled.
• Transparency (20%) — openness and rigor in public water disclosures.

If data is incomplete or missing, the entity’s Transparency score will be lowered, which directly impacts the overall ranking. This ensures that honesty and data quality are equally valued alongside performance.

🚀 2026 Beta Release

The first beta version of the WISE Index is planned for 2026. This release will validate the ranking methodology, gather feedback, and promote open water reporting across the AI sector. Over time, the WISE Index will expand in scope, accuracy, and coverage to become a trusted global benchmark for water accountability.
